Selection process

We want to see you at your best, so all our selection processes are designed to put you at ease and let the real you come shining through.

It’s very much a much a two-way street, with plenty of opportunities for you to see where you’ll be working, meet the people you’ll be working with and ask as many questions as you like.

All decisions are made strictly on merit and suitability for the job and regardless of the outcome, we’ll let you know our decision by telephone or e-mail within two weeks of seeing you.


Every person applying for a job in Plumbase will be asked to fill in an application form on-line, so they can be fairly compared against other potential candidates.  You’ll also need to upload your CV.

This isn’t anything to worry about, it’s normal practice and you’ll be supplied with all the information you need to make a good job of it. This information will include a job description outlining the main duties and responsibilities of the role, as well as the essential and desirable qualifications and experience required by us.

Of course, you’ll also be given details of salary and benefits package; some information about the Company; a brief statement about the selection process; plus, details of where and when interviews will take place.

All applicants will be asked for confirmation of your right to work in the UK. 


Your Interview


If you require any adjustments throughout the recruitment process, please make the recruitment team aware.

Make sure you know where you are going, who you are meeting and what time you have to be there. Check your route and arrive a few minutes early if possible. The last thing you or the interviewer want is for you to be flustered and late.

Read the job advert again and take another look at the job description.  The questions the interviewer will ask you will be based upon the job and the skills you will need to be successful in the role.

You might also want to have a look at the company website and try to learn a little bit about the company, its history and what we do. When applying for a position, ensure you match your talents to the required skills stated in the advertisement and job profile.


Remember that we want to see you at your best.

Be clear and speak calmly. This is important as the interviewer will need to hear what you say and understand what you’re explaining.

We want to understand what you have done so use relevant examples as this shows you have experience of what we are looking for and will help you keep specific with your answers.

Ask any questions that you think might be relevant, this will also show the interviewer you are keen and interested in the job.

Remember if you don’t know the answer to an interview question, it’s not the end of the world. We don’t expect you to know everything about the job you are applying for, and it’s ok to say “I don't know the answer to that” or “I haven’t done that specifically but I have done something similar...”

Relevant Checks

If you accept the offer of a job it will be subject to certain checks. Where appropriate, we’ll also want confirmation of your qualifications (including driving license) and your right to work in the UK. If the job needs any other checks we will let you know.
